Lucia and I teamed up to create a leadership skills program in 2017 and since then we have run the Moodie and Labouchere leadership development and coaching organisation. I continue my work as a Professor of Public Health at the University of Melbourne.

Throughout my career, I increasingly recognised that no matter how good a clinician or researcher you are, you can not succeed as a leader, or even as a good team member, without learning the fundamental human skills of effective leadership. These skills are all learnable and the earlier you start to learn them the better!

Imagine if we were taught these skills in schools, it would mean we would have many more emotionally intelligent, compassionate leaders in every sector, getting the most out of themselves and their colleagues. I wholly support the work Lucia and Tali are doing in taking these skills to schools. Lucia's Leadership Training Programme

This is a course like no other. It really makes you change for the better. You will listen more deeply, you will ask better questions and get better answers, you will learn to assume the best in others and lay down boundaries so that you can stick by your values and be a compassionate, generous leader. It is a culture changer and something we all need to learn, preferably starting at school level. Why are we not taught this at school?

When I first started managing a team, I was fortunate to be enrolled in a leadership training course led by Lucia Labouchere and Rob Moodie.

Five years on, I still apply so much of what I learned, a true testament to its lasting impact. One of the most important lessons was seeing leadership as a practice we develop, rather than a title we hold. True leadership lies in how we inspire, guide, and support others. This sort of leadership development should be embedded at all levels, encouraging us to see leadership as a skill we all can cultivate.

The course has been instrumental in enhancing my self-awareness and equipping me with tools to inspire the same in others. I’ve learned how to ask powerful, thought-provoking questions that evoke awareness and challenge individuals to co-create solutions. My curiosity has grown significantly, and I now see it as a powerful asset in fostering self-reflection and personal growth in those I will coach.The course provides you with a structured framework to build lasting skills in coaching and leadership, and the tools you acquire are immediately applicable, both professionally and personally.
