Learn to Lead for 16-18 year olds

Our course runs for 12 months through three terms of the 6th form and ensures that students leave school equipped with the skills necessary to make the most of whatever technical capacity they chose to focus on in their adult lives.

They also have optional access to support beyond the 12 months.

In a world that is fast paced, we slow it down and give time and space to the participants to reflect on who they are and who they want to become.

They will leave the course with clarity and confidence to take their next steps towards their future.

Course Structure

There are six phases to our programme:

PHASE 1

THE ASSESSMENT

Staff/student focused needs assessment in the shape of interviews and questionnaires.

PHASE 2

THE CO-DESIGN

We work with a carefully selected group of school staff for a full day in house to introduce them to the programme and to the approach, train them in basic coaching skills, explore potential project concepts and finalise the design of your school's programme together.

PHASE 3

THE INTENSIVE

The Intensive I - Leadership of self and project introduction - 2 days
The Intensive II - Leadership of others, systems and project check in - 2 days
The Intensive III - Reflection and planning - 1 day

PHASE 4

THE PROJECT AND TEAM COACHING

The student participants work in groups on an action learning project of their choice. This enables us to provide continual support and monitoring, including monthly team coaching sessions, as they conceive, develop and complete their chosen projects. The project embeds and develops the skills learnt during The Intensive and opens up opportunities for inter peer and cross-school coaching. The project could also be counted as an EPQ to add value and depth to UCAS applications.

PHASE 5

ONE TO ONE COACHING

Each student will have a one to one coaching session at the start and at the end of the course. We offer an opt in 4 session coaching programme for our programme graduates to be accessed within a year of leaving school.

PHASE 6

THE EVALUATION

We will follow the cohort closely throughout the programme, asking for feedback and suggestions as we go so as to make it as impactful as possible. At the end of the 12 months we will design an evaluation report acknowledging the learning, behaviour change and results that have taken place.

This mix of face to face training, project work and team coaching ensures sustainability and maximum impact as it allows the participants to purposefully practice their learning with our regular input and support, for the duration of the school year.
